ARIZONA STATE
Bhagat Puran Singh Health Initiative began its first Arizona chapter at Arizona State University during the pandemic in late 2020. At the first student organization that emphasized the Punjabi/Sikh lifestyle at ASU, BPSHI also became a space for members to gather to embrace the culture.
BPSHI at ASU follows the path set by previous BPSHI chapters as a nonprofit organization created on the basis of seva (selfless service) and nimrata (humility). Our goal aims towards diminishing the healthcare disparities in underrepresented communities, including but not limited to, the Punjabi and Sikh communities of Arizona.
We have worked with various organizations across the valley: Punjabi Seva, to provide non-perishable food items to those in need during the pandemic; Langar on Wheels, to distribute food to the homeless in downtown Phoenix; local gurudwara sahibs, to hose health screening events and provide health updates and resources to sangat members.
