RIVERSIDE

The UC Riverside chapter started in the Spring of 2016. We aim to provide health screenings and health awareness to create a sense of self-efficacy within an individual as well as health awareness. As an organization with an altruistic goal, we aim to reach a diverse group of people from all different backgrounds. To give back to as many as we can, we have created a diverse leadership board that provides multiple outlooks for any one objective we aim to accomplish.

Current Projects

1

Clinics

Riverside BPSHI will host around 4 clinics each quarter this academic year at Sikh Valley gurdwara (in Riverside) and Gurdwara Sahib in Riverside. Riverside BPSHI’s clinics focus on providing wellbeing resources and health screening exams to our local underserved communities of the Inland Empire. Through this Riverside BPSHI continuously works towards their larger goal of dismantling health disparities.

2

Health Fairs

Riverside BPSHI will host around 4 health fairs (simultaneously with scheduled clinics) in efforts to educate the sangat on everyday practices that can significantly improve their health. In collaboration with a local physician, health fairs will focus on lifestyle topics with a cultural understanding such as mental wellness practices and advising ways in which the traditional Punjabi diet can be made healthier.

3

Care Packages

Riverside BPSHI will host 3 care package distributions in Riverside this academic year. Packages arranged with snacks, hygiene products, and other well being resources will be distributed to local homeless shelters. Additionally, the organization will participate in langar seva regularly throughout the academic year.
